  Sergey Lagodinsky (Verts/ALE). – Madam President, the amendment addresses the horrific situation around the hospital in Gaza and the tragedy that took place there. It was formulated in consensus with the leading groups in the first hours after the incident news arrived. And now, as more and more news is upcoming and more and more differentiation is there about what happened, we would like to propose an amendment that would focus on those who innocently perished there, and the potential perpetrators who are responsible for it, with consideration of the new information that we have in the media, so that we do not spread fake information or do not somehow push it, even unwillingly.

Our proposal is the following: ‘Deeply regrets and mourns the loss of hundreds of innocent lives and those injured at the Al-Ahli Hospital blast; calls for an independent investigation under international law to establish whether this was a deliberate attack and thus a war crime; calls for perpetrators to be held accountable.’

Nous avons, bien entendu, besoin d’une pause humanitaire, comme j’ai cru comprendre que le groupe Renew allait le demander. Mais cela doit passer expressément par un cessez—le—feu, qui est codifié en droit international par les Conventions de Genève.

Le conflit fait rage, des milliers de civils sont pris pour cible, et notre Parlement européen se doit d’avoir une parole sérieuse et de reprendre les termes exacts d’António Guterres, le secrétaire général de l’Organisation des Nations unies, qui a proposé un «cessez—le—feu humanitaire immédiat».

Dès lors, comme les Nations unies, comme les ONG que sont Médecins sans frontières, Amnesty international et Human Rights Watch, nous demandons un cessez—le—feu humanitaire immédiat. Cela veut dire l’arrêt de toute opération militaire, pour porter secours aux populations civiles.

Des millions de personnes, chers collègues, attendent la fin des opérations militaires et la fin du conflit. Soyons à la hauteur et votons en faveur de ce cessez—le—feu humanitaire immédiat.

  Manon Aubry (The Left). – Madame la Présidente, c’est le texte d’origine: «demande instamment au haut représentant de l’Union pour les affaires étrangères et la politique de sécurité, à la Commission et au Conseil de se joindre au secrétaire général de l’ONU, António Guterres, pour faire appliquer» – c’est là la modification – «un cessez—le—feu humanitaire immédiat et ouvrir un accès sans restriction à l’aide humanitaire». Le reste demeure inchangé, Madame la Présidente.

  Hilde Vautmans (Renew). – Madam President, dear colleagues, as I led the difficult negotiations yesterday, I really want this House to be united and voting with a strong voice. That’s the reason why I really would like to propose another oral amendment, like our Member States just called for a humanitarian pause at the UN Security Council yesterday.

Consequently, I would like to make the amendment to Amendment 71 and Amendment 37 to call for a humanitarian pause in order for this House to vote a very strong resolution all together about this urgent humanitarian situation.

  Presidente. – Prego chi si oppone di alzarsi in piedi perché è necessario contarvi.

  Hilde Vautmans (Renew). – Madam President, I really would ask you, we only ask for a humanitarian pause: who can be against that?

  Presidente. – Allora onorevole sono stati contati dai servizi, ovviamente dai funzionari che sono qui presenti accanto a me, ed erano più di 38. Il numero preciso non mi è stato comunicato, lo chiediamo, ma ne hanno contati più di 38, questo sicuramente posso ribadirglielo.

  Hilde Vautmans (Renew). – Madam President, colleagues, politics is also daring to speak out loud and clearly about what we really want to ask. Look at the images, look at what is happening: the people are asking for a humanitarian pause. It is what our Member States asked at the UN Council yesterday.

Please, I want to ask you to vote in favour and to not stand up on this oral amendment for this humanitarian pause. There are people dying every day. They need this humanitarian pause.

  Presidente. – Onorevoli colleghi, io vi invito però a essere calmi. Mi rendo conto che è una risoluzione molto sensibile su un tema molto importante, però invito l'Aula a rispettare la calma perché altrimenti se si fa confusione diventa difficile.

  Terry Reintke (Verts/ALE). – Madam President, dear colleagues, we have all been shocked by the attacks on Jewish institutions and synagogues in the past days. We have to be absolutely clear, and we are in this text, that we stand by the Jewish communities in Europe and that we are going to protect them and that we stand up against any form of anti-Semitism.

Our oral amendment seeks to add an updated incident to the already existing text which says: ‘strongly condemns the attempted attacks on a Jewish synagogue in Berlin, hosting a community centre, a primary school and a kindergarten, on 18 October, as well as other similar incidents in other European countries’. I ask you to support this to strongly update the very strong position.
