  Seán Kelly (PPE). – A Uachtaráin, by the close of this decade hundreds of billions of products will be connected to the internet. We live in an age of AI and smart technologies. These technologies have become indispensable in our lives, which simultaneously makes them targets of attack. Irish people know this all too well – we are still reeling from a cyberattack on our National Health Service. However, this is not all. Private lives are being exposed, money is being extorted, and there are endless other examples of digital piracy.

Europe needs proper protections to modern forms of attack, and I am happy to have voted for this regulation, which will help us to do that.

  Stanislav Polčák (PPE). – Pane předsedající, pro mě tento návrh spadá do širšího pojmu kybernetické bezpečnosti jako takové. My jsme na tomto poli již učinili mnohé. Připomenu schválení směrnice NIS 2 v minulém roce. Také v České republice, ale samozřejmě v řadě členských států, myslím, že bychom nenašli skoro žádný členský stát Evropské unie, který by v posledních letech nečelil masivním kybernetickým útokům, jsme čelili útokům, které dopadají na naše nemocnice, na energetické společnosti, které jsou velmi důležité, kritickou infrastrukturu, samozřejmě na úřady. Takže je nezbytné posilovat naši kybernetickou odolnost. Internet je nepochybně na vzestupu. Je nepochybné, že do něj bude promlouvat i umělá inteligence a je třeba zvyšovat odolnost. A jsem rád, že vlastně návrh, který byl schválen dnes, já jsem jej podpořil, tak zvyšuje tuto odolnost. Myslím, že Evropa musela takto reagovat, a je to důležité také pro spotřebitele a zranitelné osoby.
