European medals at the Olympic Games

The final European medal count at the Olympic Games was 309. To highlight this sporting excellence by the nations of the Old Continent, the Commission launched a European medal counter. This excellent, unprecedented and symbolic initiative seeks to showcase the values of the European Union and of the Olympic movement, as enshrined in the motto ‘United in Diversity’.

It should be noted too that for the first time at the 2024 Paris Olympics the 12 gold stars of the European flag hung, and will continue to hang, alongside the French and Olympic flags at the competition sites of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In line with these very good initiatives, would the Commission agree to ask the Olympic Committee to display a European flag as an inlaid image behind the national flag of an EU Member State for European athletes and delegations?
