Question for written answer E-000869/2025
to the Commission
Rule 144
Sabine Verheyen (PPE), Monika Hohlmeier (PPE)
The European Network Against Racism (ENAR) has received EU funding since at least 2015. A number of its member organisations have very close ties with the Muslim Brotherhood. Those organisations include: the Collectif Contre l’Islamophobie en Europe (CCIE, successor to the Collectif Contre l’Islamophobie en France, which was dissolved by authorities in France); the Forum of European Muslim Youth and Student Organisations (FEMYSO, considered by the Baden-Württemberg Office for the Protection of the Constitution as the umbrella body for youth organisations with connections to the Muslim Brotherhood); and the European Forum of Muslim Women (the women’s group of the European umbrella body for organisations with connections to the Muslim Brotherhood). It is well known that the Muslim Brotherhood’s work and vision are at odds with EU values.
- 1.To what extent does the Commission review ENAR’s member organisations before providing funding?
- 2.How does the Commission intend to react if such member organisations, owing to their cooperation with the Muslim Brotherhood, become associated with antisemitism or statements that run counter to EU values?
- 3.Has the Commission ever suspended payments to ENAR or sought to recover payments?
