In relation to the question of equal access of non-German EU nationals to working contracts (e.g. Doktorandenstellen) at the Max Planck Society, the Commission received a complaint in May 2004 (after the reply given to Written Question E‑0062/04 by Giorgio Calo). This complaint has been registered as an official complaint, and as soon as the complainant has given his approval to disclose his identity and documentation to the German authorities, the Commission will ask the German authorities for their position on the issue.

In view of the information given in the Honourable Member's question, the Commission will consider contacting the German authorities already before the approval of the citizen is given. For that purpose the Honourable Member is kindly requested to send a copy of the information mentioned in this question and any additional proof available directly to the Commission (Directorate-General Employment and Social Affairs).
