The UN Convention on the Law of the Sea has been ratified by the European Community and constitutes part of the Community acquis. The 10 new Member States have also ratified the Convention, as required, pursuant to the provisions of Article 6 of their Act of Accession.
Will the Commission say whether Turkey must accede to the Convention on the Law of the Sea, which now forms part of the Community acquis, during the accession negotiations? According to the Commission's timetable, when will the relevant chapter be examined?
