to the Commission

 Subject: Question E‑3455/07
 Answer in writing

With regard to the Commission’s response to my Question E–3455/07, would the Commission agree to look at the need to extend the Community Action Plan to include external waters and the role of EU fleets with regard to the bycatch of albatrosses?

What evidence does the Commission have to support its view that the RFMOs (Regional Fisheries Management Organisations) have adopted mitigation measures in respect of the bycatch of seabirds which, in terms of their effect, are comparable to those being implemented in CCAMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) waters?
