to the Commission

 Subject: Macedonian Airlines (MAT)
 Answer in writing

Is the Commission aware that the Greek Aviation Authority is said to have refused to allow Macedonian Airlines (MAT) to conduct landing and over‑flight operations, citing the name of the airline company as a reason for its refusal?

Could the Commission confirm that this is indeed the case, especially as this would be the fourth year in a row that a case of this type has arisen?

Is the Commission in a position to clarify its stand on the legality of the decision by the Greek Aviation Authority, given the provisions of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Macedonia and the EU, and those of the European Common Aviation Area Agreement, which grant unlimited air traffic rights to carriers on both sides?
