The application to register ‘Karp zatorski’ as a Protected Designation of Origin was lodged with the Commission in April 2007, as the Honourable Member has indicated.

The scrutiny carried out by the Commission concluded that additional information was needed in order to determine whether the application fulfils the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 510/2006[1] of 20 March 2006 on the protection of geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs. This information was requested from the Polish authorities by a letter dated 20 May 2008.

The Polish authorities answered in November 2008. The Commission is in the process of examining the answer and based on this examination will decide whether to proceed to publication or rejection.

The application to register ‘Suska sechlońska’ was lodged with the Commission on 23 April 2007. The scrutiny carried out by the Commission concluded that additional information was needed in order to determine whether the application fulfils the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 510/2006. This information was requested from the Polish authorities by a letter dated 29 April 2008.

The Polish authorities answered end of October 2008. The Commission is in the process of examining the answer and based on this examination will decide whether to proceed to publication or rejection.

The application to register ‘Jabłka łąckie’ was lodged with the Commission on 5 July 2007. The scrutiny carried out by the Commission concluded that additional information was needed in order to determine whether the application fulfils the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 510/2006. This information was requested from the Polish authorities by a letter dated 14 July 2008.

Once the requested information has been submitted, the Commission will re-examine the application. If the Commission, as a result of this examination, considers that the request meets the conditions of the regulation mentioned above, it will publish the summary in the Official Journal with a view to beginning the objection procedure.

The application to register ‘Fasola korczyńska’ was lodged with the Commission on 7 June 2007. The Commission completed the scrutiny of this application in June 2008 and informed the Polish authorities that the application does not meet the requirements laid down in Regulation (EC) No 510/2006.

The Polish authorities answered in December 2008. The Commission is in the process of examining the answer and based on this examination will decide whether to proceed to publication or rejection.
