Cohesion Policy and rural development

Although Cohesion Policy does not contain an objective specifically concerned with the countryside, it plays an important role in the development of rural areas. However, rural development is an objective of other EU funds. Within this framework the coordination and complementarity of Cohesion and Rural Development Policies are considered to be of decisive importance.

Will the Commission say to what extent the introduction of territorial cohesion as an objective of the European Union could be used as a basis for further interlinking actions funded by the Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund, on the one hand, and by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), on the other?
