The Commission proposed in 2008 to amend Directive 2002/15/EC[1] in order inter alia to exclude self-employed drivers from its scope.

Following a vote on Mrs Bauer's report on 28 April 2010, Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs decided to propose that Parliament reject the Commission proposal. The debate and vote on Mrs Bauer's report, as amended, are scheduled to take place during the June 2010 plenary session.

The Commission will determine its position in the light of Parliament's vote.
