Agreement between the EU and Morocco on liberalisation measures for agricultural and fishery products

Question for written answer E-002315/2011
to the Commission
Rule 117
José Bové (Verts/ALE)

Parliament has been asked to consider a Commission proposal to liberalise trade in agricultural and fishery products between the EU and Morocco on the basis of the existing Association Agreement.

A recent study by Parliament’s Legal Service has failed to establish whether Western Sahara is covered by the existing agreement or will come under the new agreement. Can the Commission clarify this?

Agricultural and fishery products are already being imported into the EU under the Association Agreement. Can the Commission draw up an exhaustive list of products from Western Sahara imported into the EU in the past five years? Can it also detail the volumes of these imports?

Does the Commission intend to include provisions in the Association Agreement to require designations of origin for agricultural products? Will it call for a specific designation of origin to be introduced for Western Sahara?
