Question for written answer E-003116/2011
to the Commission
Rule 117
Daniël van der Stoep (NI)

Subject: Palestinians name streets and squares after terrorists
 Answer in writing

The Palestinian Authority is glorifying Islamic terrorism.

Streets and squares are regularly being named by the Palestinian Authority after (suicide) terrorists. A recent example is the naming of a square on 13 March 2011 after Dalal al‑Mughrabi, who was responsible for the 1978 bus hijacking in which 35 Israelis were killed.

1. Is the Commission aware of the report ‘Palestinians honor Fatah terrorist, despite Israel's protests’? If not, why not?

2. Is the Commission aware that the Palestinian Authority regularly names streets and squares after (suicide) terrorists? If not, why not?

3. Does the Commission agree that it is too scandalous for words that the Palestinian Authority names streets and squares after (suicide) terrorists, and does the Commission therefore condemn the Palestinian Authority in this connection? If not, why not?

4. Does the Commission agree that the naming of streets and squares after (suicide) terrorists constitutes pure glorification of Islamic terrorism and proves that the Palestinian Authority is not seeking peace but is on a war path? If not, why not?

5. Will the Commission take steps to ensure that the Palestinian Authority in future does not receive another cent of EU money as a consequence of its glorification of terrorism? If not, why not?
