Healthcare-associated infections (HAI) are a big problem throughout Europe, but the risk varies considerably among Member States.
In the light of this, can the Commission answer the following:
- 1.What is the average risk of acquiring an HAI during or after hospitalisation in the European Union?
- 2.What is the average risk of infection with Clostridium difficile during or after hospitalisation in the European Union?
- 3.What is the average risk of acquiring a meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection during or after hospitalisation in the European Union?
- 4.What is the risk of acquiring an HAI during or after hospitalisation in the individual Member States (please provide data for each Member State)?
- 5.What is the average risk of acquiring a Clostridium difficile infection during or after hospitalisation in the individual Member States (please provide data for each Member State)?
- 6.What is the average risk of acquiring an MRSA infection during or after hospitalisation in the individual Member States (please provide data for each Member State)?
- 7.Would the Commission consider measures to make it easier for European patients to find out the HAI-rate in different countries and even in different hospitals?
