E-008919/2014(ASW)
Answer given by High Representative/Vice-President Mogherini on behalf of the Commission
Question reference: E-008919/2014

In its conclusions of 12 May 2014(1), the Foreign Affairs Council stated that: ‘The tragic events in Odessa of 2 May with many dead and injured must be thoroughly investigated and all those responsible brought to justice. The Council encourages the coverage of this investigation by the Council of Europe's International Advisory Panel as a way to ensure its independence and transparency’. The decision taken in November 2014, following the Ukrainian Government's consent in September 2014, on the extension of the mandate of the International Advisory Panel to cover the Odessa events(2) will help to ensure a thorough investigation and to bring those responsible to justice.
