The Honourable Member is invited to refer to the answers to written questions E-006543/2011, E-007161/2011, E-002062/2012, E-005276/2013 and P-004001/2014, E-004968/2014[1], which address the issues of stray dogs and of dog population management and the EU competence on this matter.

The protection of stray animals falls within the sole competence of the Member States.
