In light of its response to Written Question E‐000540/2015 ‘Principle of fair compensation in European regulations on medicines — justice for thalidomide victims’, and given that ‘Compensation schemes such as the one referred to by the Honourable member are, however, not a matter of EU competence’, how does the Commission plan to encourage any Member States involved in the above scandal to address and definitively resolve the problems facing those citizens affected by thalidomide?
