    Youth Guarantee project

    Question for written answer E-008074-15
    to the Commission
    Rule 130
    Aldo Patriciello (PPE)

According to data from the ILO, the recent economic crisis has led to an increase in the rate of youth unemployment in many European countries, reaching alarming levels of between 30% and close to 60%.

Young people who are currently out of work, not studying or undergoing a course of training are very costly for the EU: EUR 153 billion (1.21% of European GDP) per year.

In order to bring an end to the problem of unemployment, the Commission has brought in the Youth Guarantee programme in order to guarantee all young people under 25 a valid job offer within four months of the end of their course or of becoming unemployed.

The Youth Guarantee programme should ensure rapid action and implementation by participating Member States.

In view of the foregoing, can the Commission advise how it intends to ensure that the project is made accessible to all potential participants within a short time frame?
