Palau is an island nation in the Philippine Sea. It has been a member of the ACP (African, Caribbean and Pacific) group of states since 2000, and since then has been receiving economic assistance from the European Development Fund (EDF).

Political dialogue between the EU and Palau focuses on environmental protection and human rights protection.

For the period 2014-2020, the EDF is providing financial assistance to Palau which focuses on the development of renewable and efficient energy.

1. Could the VP/HR state whether the EU intends to cooperate more closely with the Republic of Palau?

2. How much EDF aid has been granted for the current period and for what specific measures is it intended?
