 Subject:  Fight against anti-Gypsyism
 Answer in writing

In its resolution of 15 April 2015 ‘on the occasion of International Roma Day — anti-Gypsyism in Europe and EU recognition of the memorial day of the Roma genocide during World War II’, Parliament underlined the need to combat anti-Gypsyism at every level and by every means. It also recognised the Roma Holocaust during World War II and declared that a European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day should be established.

In a press release of 2 August 2015, the Commission supported the establishment of a European Holocaust Memorial Day and expressed its hope that the Member States would soon recognise it.

1. How will the Council ensure that the fight against anti-Gypsyism is mainstreamed in all EU policies relating to the inclusion of Roma?

2. What measures will the Council take to endorse Parliament’s declaration, in its aforementioned resolution, that a European Roma Holocaust Memorial Day should be established?

3. What measures will the Council take to the encourage Member States to officially recognise the Roma Holocaust?
