In a press release entitled ‘EU Internet Forum: progress of terrorist content online’ dated 10 March 2017, the Commission announced that 90% of the content referred by Europol to those Internet companies involved in the Internet Forum had been removed.[1]
Against this background, the Commission is asked to answer the following:
- 1.Why is this considered a success of the Internet Forum, given that Europol is simply carrying out the task assigned to it in Article 4.1(m) of Regulation 2016/794?
- 2.Precisely what proportion of the content referred by Europol to the Internet companies was illegal?
- 3.What proportion of the content referred by Europol to the Internet companies was subject to: (a) referral to, and (b) investigation or prosecution by national law enforcement and judicial authorities?
