An exhibition is currently running at Espace Vanderborght in Brussels (property of the city of Brussels) supported by EUR 2.5 million in funding provided by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme. This exhibition is entitled ‘Islam, It’s Also Our History!’. It has already been shown in Sarajevo (i.e. outside the European Union) and it will travel to various towns and cities in Bulgaria.

1. Was the Commission aware of the exhibition’s title before it opened and could it say whether the exhibition is about Islamic civilisation or Islam as a religion?

2. The price of an adult ticket for the exhibition is EUR 13.50. What is the point of a EUR 2.5 million subsidy if tickets are so expensive, and does the Commission plan to make a similar contribution to the cost of an exhibition on Europe's Christian roots?

3. Was the subsidy from Creative Europe used to fund the exhibition when it was held in Sarajevo, a city outside the EU, and did the city authorities themselves contribute towards the cost?
