E-002842/2018(ASW)
Answer given by Mr Hogan on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: E-002842/2018

In accordance with Article 345 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, issues related to land ownership fall under the competence of the Member States.

This applies also to the particular case described in the written question where a farmer is asked to quit his land lease contract with a short prior notice.

According to the information provided by the Honourable Member, the termination of the contract relates to the change in the land use from organic production of goji berry to pasture which in turn is not related to the application of Union law, but to the decisions of local authorities.
