EU support for developing and upgrading Comiso airport

The Comiso airport, located in the province of Ragusa, plays a very important role in the development of tourism in Sicily. Moreover, this airport is a fundamental part of the infrastructure, ensuring the mobility of hundreds of thousands of Sicilians who are faced with the insularity of the region and the lack of other suitable modes of transport.

In light of the above, can the Commission say:

• 1.What EU programmes and funding could support the development and upgrading of Comiso airport?
• 2.With regard to the forthcoming multiannual financial framework for 2021-2027, can it confirm its intention to exclude airport funding from ERDF programmes?
• 3.With reference to the definition of the criteria for the forthcoming programming of the Connecting Europe Facility for Transport (CEF) 2021-2027, can it confirm its intention not to fund the infrastructure of the Comprehensive Network?
