E-005500-18
Question for written answer E-005500-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Ole Christensen (S&D)

Subject:  Norway lobsters in the North Sea
 Answer in writing

The North Sea discard plan C(2018) 6793 has just been adopted. The revised and scientifically-based minimum sizes for Norway lobsters are not included in this plan(1).

The multiannual plan for the North Sea ((EU) 2018/973) states that there is a possibility to fix these minimum conservation reference sizes.

Can the Commission say:

Why the revised and scientifically-based minimum sizes in the North Sea discard plan were not included?

How it intends to ensure that Norway lobsters can still be landed in the ICES area 3a from 1 January 2019, according to the revised and scientifically-based minimum sizes (105 mm), as has been the case since 2016?
