E-006460-18
Question for written answer E-006460-18
to the Commission
Rule 130
Doru-Claudian Frunzulică (S&D)

Subject:  Tackling the effects of illegal fishing
 Answer in writing

On 14 December 2018, the heads of WTO member delegations affirmed their commitment to intensifying negotiations on fisheries subsidies early in the new year in order to meet the target for reaching an agreement by the end of 2019, thereby further confirming their support for the January-July 2019 work programme.

With reference to Council Regulation (EC) No 1005/2008 of 29 September 2008 (IUU Regulation) and Commission Regulation (EC) No 1010/2009 of 22 October 2009 laying down the detailed rules for its implementation, does the Commission intend to demonstrate a more flexible attitude in the negotiations on fisheries subventions with a view to redirecting commercial flows away from the black market?
