Last year, 2018, was EU-China Tourism Year. The aim was to boost the number of Chinese visitors to the EU and vice versa. Numerous initiatives and events were organised to promote tourism during the year, which coincided with the European Year of Cultural Heritage. Europe’s rich and diverse cultural heritage is known to be a big draw for Chinese tourists.

1. Can the Commission state whether there was a significant increase in Chinese tourists visiting EU countries in 2018?

2. What are the prospects for tourism from China in 2019?
