Parliamentary questions

14 October 2019
Answer given by Ms Malmström on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: E-002652/2019

The Commission does not have comprehensive information as to which Member States have carried out assessments of the impact of the EU-Mercosur agreement on their national economies, but is aware that some Member States are considering such a step.

The texts of the agreement have been published, the majority of them on 12 July 2019, just two weeks after the political conclusion of the negotiations. The market access schedules on goods, services and public procurement are very lengthy documents and will need to be carefully checked before they are published. The EU is currently engaged in this task with Mercosur. At this stage, it is not possible to say precisely when the market access schedules will be published, but best efforts are made to complete the work so as to publish them as soon as possible.

The complete list of geographical indications has been published(1). It contains three Bulgarian geographical indications(2) which will be protected through the agreement.

(2)The three names are: Българско розово масло (Bulgarsko rozovo maslo) — essential oil Дунавска равнина (Dunavska ravnina) — wine Тракийска низина (Trakiĭska nizina) — wine
