Subject:  Assessing the impact of the EU-Mercosur trade agreement vis-à-vis products with geographical indications
 Answer in writing

On 28 June 2019, the European Union, on the one hand, and the member countries of the Mercosur trading block, on the other, officially concluded negotiations on a free-trade agreement. The agreement is intended to liberalise trade in products of various kinds, including a range of agricultural products. The Mercosur countries are undertaking to protect 355 European product designations involving geographical indications.

1. Does the Commission have information as to which Member States have carried out assessments of the impact of the EU-Mercosur agreement on their national economies?

2. When are the documents relating to the agreement to be finalised and published?

3. Does the agreement cover Bulgarian products with geographical indications?
