Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Ivo Hristov
 Answer in writing
Subject: Facilitating the establishment of regional slaughterhouses

The 2018 report on the current situation and future prospects for the sheep and goat sectors in the EU identified some fundamental problems and made specific recommendations.

One of the biggest challenges for small and medium-sized sheep breeders is the lack of local slaughterhouses, which is preventing a shorter supply chain from being established. One of the recommendations made in the aforementioned report was to relax the rules on establishing regional and mobile slaughterhouses.

How does the Commission view this proposal, which seeks to facilitate the development of local and mobile slaughterhouses?
