Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Phil Bennion
 Answer in writing
Subject: Rule of law and implementation of judgments in Moldova

We have received information about several Moldovan court judgments that have not been implemented, including ruling 2ra–647/19 issued earlier this year by the Supreme Court of Moldova, in which the owner of a company was granted monetary damages following a complaint of mismanagement. By signing the Association Agreement with the European Union, Moldova has committed itself to the promotion of the rule of law, the independence of the judiciary and the right to a fair trial.

Given its political and financial commitments to the rule of law, is the EU aware of this issue and what steps is it taking to enforce the judgments issued by the Moldovan courts?
