According to the OECD, 1 out of 6 people in the EU are affected by mental health issues. Besides the obvious impact on people’s lives, mental health problems also have an enormous economic impact on the Member States.
The Joint Action for Mental Health and Wellbeing, which saw the creation of a European framework for action, was a welcome development.
How does the Commission plan to address mental health in the coming years?
Will the Commission follow the recommendations by NGOs and develop a comprehensive EU mental health action programme, mainstreaming mental health into all policies at EU and national levels through health, employment and social policies?
