Rule 138

Escalating tensions between the US and Iran have recently highlighted the ease with which the delicate checks and balances of international relations can be disrupted, with the constant threat of crises, economic embargoes and even wars. Developments in Iran and the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean in general are having serious repercussions, reflected for example in the the volatility of oil and natural gas prices and the displacement of the entire energy map.
In view of this:
- 1.How many third countries supply the EU with oil and gas and which countries are they? What quantities do they supply on average?
- 2.For what percentage of its energy supply does the EU depend on Iran and the Middle East?
- 3.Is the the EU in a position to become energy independent if necessary?
