Standardisation of gas connections in the EU
3.3.2020
Question for written answer E-001256/2020
to the Commission
Rule 138
Ralf Seekatz (PPE)
In the European Union, the various national gas cylinder and gas connection systems are not standardised. This often causes problems, particularly for people travelling in the EU with a mobile home or caravan for example: often they need different adapters in order to be able to use ‘foreign’ gas cylinders in a particular gas installation (which may well be built in).
- 1.Does the Commission have any plans for establishing a common standard for gas cylinders and gas connection systems in the EU?
- 2.If so, when is such standardisation likely to be introduced, and what is the current state of affairs and planning situation in this regard?
- 3.If not, what reasons are there for refraining from standardisation, and why is this subject not on the political agenda?
