Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Miroslav Číž
 Answer in writing
Subject: Crises triggered by the COVID–19 outbreak

Against the background of the crises triggered by the COVID–19 outbreak, the world economy is fluctuating and many industries are contending with foreseeable uncertainty. It is clear that the EU is facing a number of emergencies that need to be addressed first. It is also clear, however, clear that we cannot wait for monetary policy alone to resolve this crisis. We need to act with our own tools – fiscal policy may be a way forward.

1. Is the Commission ready to present a comprehensive action plan to tackle this crisis and help the industries that will suffer the most?

2. What would the timetable be for such an action plan?

3. Is it ready to increase investment in public infrastructure and what tools are to be considered in the medium to long term?
