Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 138
Marc Tarabella (S&D)
Subject: COVID-19 – Invoking the humanitarian exception to suspend economic sanctions

The EU’s foreign ministers have called for the ‘humanitarian exception’ provisions to be invoked to suspend economic sanctions against countries such as Cuba during the ongoing COVID-19 health emergency.

What does the Commission intend to do to ensure this decision is upheld?

What measures does it intend to take to ensure its implementation? What has been done to persuade the US Government to lift sanctions against Cuba at this difficult time?
