Workplace health protection standards and recommendations in the context of COVID-19

I have recently been informed by trade unions and workers’ organisations, particularly in manufacturing industry, of concerns that national and international health authorities have not adopted clear standards and recommendations on workplace health protection during the ongoping COVID-19 pandemic. Particular reference was made to the conditions and population density in spaces such as swimming pools, changing rooms, storage rooms or canteens.

Does the Commission have any relevant information on this issue, taking into account the situation in the 27 Member States? Has the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control made any recommendations in this regard? What EU support can be brought to bear to change conditions in workplaces with a view to safeguarding the health of workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, and reduce the risk of disease transmission in the workplace?
