While this period has been extremely challenging for all of us, one sector which has been particularly affected is that of small and medium-sized enterprises.

The current crisis has radically changed the business environment and this change is threatening the key role that SMEs play in our daily lives.

The economic bottleneck and restrictions to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic have led to severe revenue shortfalls, and as a result many SMEs are on the brink of survival.

• 1.What support measures does the Commission envisage for SMEs, bearing in mind their essential role and the fact that they guarantee stability and social cohesion?
• 2.What is the Commission doing to support scale-ups, which need financing for growth in order to be able to develop their activities?
