Subject: Authorisation of Listex P100 on the EU Market
The Commission’s answer to Parliament’s questions regarding the EU use of Listex P100 in ready-to-eat meat to reduce (by up to 80 %) the number of listeria victims does not reflect the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control and the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment’s concerns regarding increasing listeria threats.
1. Can the Commission confirm that its position on Listex P100 was an ‘interpretation’, not a ‘decision’, as it said to the Court of Justice in its deposition of 20 November 2019?
2. Can it thus withdraw its letter of 8 November 2019 to all EU Chief Veterinary Officers and propose to the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed that due to the halting of the regulatory authorisation of Listex P100 through Regulation (EC) No 853/2004, the position of Listex P100 as a non-decontaminating processing aid, as prior to the start of the Regulation (EC) No 853/2004 procedure, is confirmed with immediate effect?
