Question for written answer  E-006957/2020

The European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) mission to Belarus planned for 16-18 December 2020 was cancelled one day before its departure due to the refusal of the Belarusian side to cooperate in organising a physical visit to the Astravyets nuclear power plant (NPP). The purpose of the mission was to assess the nuclear safety situation at the Astravyets NPP, which has already registered several malfunctions since its launch in November 2020. The cancellation of the ENSREG mission leaves the EU in a blind spot, as the Belarusian regime does not provide credible information about incidents and the nuclear safety situation at the Astravyets NPP.
