Regulation (EU) 2020/852 on the establishment of a framework to facilitate sustainable investment (the Taxonomy Regulation) has objectives which include the mitigation of or adaptation to climate change. The Commission must finalise before the end of the year a delegated act setting out the technical criteria that will be used to determine which activities actually match these environmental ambitions. The EU must equip itself with all the means necessary to go greener and contribute in every realistic way to the joint effort to meet the climate challenge, in keeping with the course set by the Green Deal.
- 1.In the light of the above, how will the Commission ensure technology neutrality in the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2020/852?
- 2.Technologies such as biogas and biofuels offer many forms of added value, in that they are not only renewable energies, but also make it possible to use certain forms of agricultural waste and at the same time generate economic benefits for farms. How does the Commission intend to incorporate these technologies into its overall strategy?
- 3.How does it intend to incorporate the forestry sector, which also offers ways of combating climate change which go well beyond conservation activities?
