E-000958/2021(ASW)
Answer given by High Representative/Vice-President Borrell
on behalf of the European Commission
Question reference: E-000958/2021

The EU follows closely the state of health and general conditions of detention of Mr Lamin Haddi. The EU Delegation in Rabat has raised this case directly with the National Council for Human Rights, which has visited Mr Lamin Haddi to verify his conditions. The EU continues to monitor his state of health also through its regular contacts with local and international human rights organisations.

Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms is a key component of the bilateral relations with Morocco, as notably reflected in the EU-Morocco Declaration of 27 June 2019(1). Under the Association Agreement, the EU and Morocco hold regular exchanges on human rights issues within a dedicated sub-committee.
