to the Council
Rule 138
Filip De Man (ID)
Subject: Visit to Turkey on 6 April 2021

On 6 April 2021, the European Council President, accompanied by the Commission President, visited Turkish President Erdoğan.

1. Why does the Council consider it appropriate to honour Erdoğan with a visit, given that he has repeatedly blackmailed and humiliated the European Union and repeatedly authorised operations which have violated Greece’s borders and therefore the external border of the EU?

2. Does the Council intend at long last to impose sanctions on the rogue state of Turkey?
