Question for written answer  E-001963/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Monika Hohlmeier (PPE), Michael Gahler (PPE)
 Subject: Corruption in Lebanon

The devastating explosion in the port of Beirut in August 2020 clearly showed that corruption is present at all principal levels of administration in Lebanon. The European Union has long been involved with the country in the context of the Neighbourhood Policy, and many reports speak of its rampant corruption.

1. How much money from EU programmes has been spent in Lebanon during the 2014-2020 MFF?

2. How much financial support has the Commission given to projects and programmes in the field of justice, the rule of law and the development of administrative capacities, as well as in the area of infrastructure?

3. How successful have the individual projects been, and in which areas receiving EU funding has little or no change been registered?
