E-002424/2021
Question for written answer  E-002424/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Ciarán Cuffe (Verts/ALE)
 Answer in writing
Subject: Implementation of the EU Offshore Renewable Energy Strategy

The Commission has committed to coordinating funding with national and regional authorities for the first 100MW of wave and tidal deployment by 2025 and 1GW by 2030 in its Offshore Renewable Energy Strategy.

These projects need to reach a financial close by the end of 2022 or by early 2023 at the very latest so that Europe can maintain its position as a global leader in this area.

This means that there must be increased coordination between the Commission and regional authorities.

1. Since the publication of the strategy in November 2020, what tangible actions has the Commission taken to coordinate with national and regional authorities to meet the 2025 ocean energy target?

2. What specific measures will the Commission take to implement this type of coordination?
