The EU is still far from reaching the Green Deal target of one million charging points by 2025 and lacks a comprehensive strategic roadmap for electro-mobility.

The availability of public charging stations varies considerably from one country to another, payment systems are not harmonised and there is a lack of real-time information for users. All this continues impact on the use of electric vehicles in the EU.

The EU has supported the deployment by Member States of electricity charging infrastructure through policy, coordination and funding instruments. The funds made available through the Connecting Europe Facility have not been channelled to where they were needed most, and no clear and cohesive targets or consistent minimum infrastructure requirements have been established for the EU as whole.

Does the Commission plan to draw up a strategic roadmap to meet charging infrastructure targets, and to establish minimum standards and requirements?

Can the Commission ensure that funding is allocated on the basis of objective criteria and deficit analyses, and ensure that co-financed projects guarantee sustainable and non-discriminatory access to all users?
