 Subject: Agreements with non-EU countries on police exchange of personal data

The Commission is negotiating with several countries on agreements aimed at enabling the exchange of personal data in the area of justice and home affairs with investigating authorities in those countries and Europol. Such negotiations are known to be under way with Turkey, Israel, New Zealand and countries in North Africa.

1. With which countries is the Commission currently negotiating agreements on the police exchange of personal data?

2. Which negotiations have already started, which are set to begin, and which will be postponed for a lengthy period?

3. What other negotiating mandates for which other countries is the Commission endeavouring to secure?
