Question for written answer E-003631/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Manu Pineda (The Left)
At the 46th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in March this year, the High Commissioner Michelle Bachelet said that owing to budgetary constraints, the annual update of the database of business enterprises operating in the Occupied Palestinian Territories would not be possible.
- 1.How much does it cost each year to update this database which the UN Human Rights Council has mandated?
- 2.Is the Commission going to help defray the costs of this budget item, given its official position of opposition to the settlements being built in the Occupied Palestinian Territories and its support for the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights?
- 3.Are the business enterprises currently listed in this UN database, and others that are known to operate in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, such as CAF and GMV, eligible to be contracted in the Commission’s own tendering procedures or programmes, or are they debarred?
