Rule 138
Roman Haider (ID)
The European Commission is planning a cash limit of EUR 10 000.[1] The main reason is said to be to support the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing and to improve the regulation of cryptocurrencies. Furthermore, the limit is also justified citing the fact that criminals find it more difficult to carry out illegal transactions because electronic transactions are more easily traced than cash payments.
- 1.Why are countries that already have a lower limit allowed to keep their ceiling?
- 2.How is crime related to money laundering to be prevented if this limit is not to apply to transactions between private individuals?
