Rule 138
Guido Reil (ID)
A large-scale Danish study (Vaccine effectiveness after 1st and 2nd dose of the BNT162b2 mRNA Covid-19 Vaccine in long-term care facility residents and health care workers – a Danish cohort study) involving 30 000 residents of care homes and 330 000 healthcare workers, shows that, in the first 14 days after vaccination, vaccinated care home residents have a 40% higher risk of infection with SARS-CoV-2 than those not vaccinated, with the risk for vaccinated healthcare workers being 104% higher than for those not vaccinated. In addition, many countries with high vaccination coverage, such as Israel or the United Kingdom, have experienced significant excess mortality rates after the start of vaccination.
- 1.To what extent does the Commission take these (and similar) data into account in its COVID‑19 strategy?
- 2.To what extent is the Commission trying to protect, in particular, those risk groups who appear to be particularly vulnerable as a result of vaccination?
- 3.Has the Commission documented the process by which it weighed the various different factors in its own decision-making and, if so, where?
